The Potion Diaries Book Review and first impression.

Hello lovelies! Today I am going to be reviewing The Potion Diaries by Amy Alward and giving you my first impressions of the second book The Potion Diaries: Royal Tour. First of all I'd like to thank the lovely Josephina Bond for sending me these wonderful books so I can share my thoughts with you all.

When the Princess Of Nova accidentally poisons herself with a love potion meant for her crush, she falls crown-over-heels in love with her own reflection. Oops. A nationwide hunt is called to find the cure, with competitors travelling the world for the rarest ingredients, deep in magical forests and frozen tundras, facing death at every turn.
Enter Samantha Kemi- an ordinary girl with an extraordinary talent. Sam's family were once the most respected alchemists in the kingdom, but they've fallen on hard times, and winning the hunt would save their reputation. But can Sam really compete with the dazzling powers of the ZoroAster megapharma company? And just how close is she willing to get to Zain Aster, her dashing enemy, in the meantime?
Just to add to the pressure, this quest is all over social media. And the world news. No big deal, then.

When I first heard about this book it was described to me as "The Hunger Games meets The Princess Diaries" and they are two of my favourite book series! I do not see that this is completely true however there is definitely a resemblance. Especially because this book is full of adventure, mystery, romance AND MAGIC!!! The perfect mixture of genres for any age! I would personally recommend this for my teenage friends and younger but I really do think anyone could enjoy this book.

I really grew to love the main character, Samantha, I felt as if I went on a journey with her as she grew as a person. I loved that it was mainly from her perspective as I could know how she was feeling and what she was thinking. I also liked the few chapters that were from Princess Evelyn's perspective as they were extremely entertaining even though I disliked her character. Amy did a great job on creating such an annoying character like Evelyn and I think her chapters were written very cleverly. I enjoyed reading about Samantha and learning about her relationship with her friends and family. I also liked the constant updates on the Potion ingredients along with a description of what they are used for. I really felt as if I was learning a lot, which was very enjoyable.

Now, as I'm sure we all know, most (if not all) books have some sort of romance aspect to it and The Potion Diaries is no exception. I usually get sick of romance novels fairly quickly but because this book is full of excitement and adventure it wasn't sickening at all. However, I didn't fall in love with the love interest (I will not spoil) and I most definitely didn't swoon over him. His character was not to my taste at all but I loved reading about Samantha's views and thoughts about him and his family.

I really liked how much of an easy read this book was, and I didn't want to put it down! I fell in love with, most of, the characters, felt part of the adventure and found out about the world of Samantha Kemi. I would rate this book at 9/10!! If you love books that contain one spoonful of magic, two of adventure, a pinch of royal drama and a generous splash of romance, I would recommend you give this book a try!

(I will not write out the blurb of The Potion Diaries: Royal Tour as it could spoil the ending of the first book)

Now, because I enjoyed the first book so much I couldn't wait to start the second one. However I am only 1/4 of the way through so I can give you all my first impression of The Potion Diaries: Royal Tour.
Already I am so excited for how the plot is going to continue! I am expecting lots more adventure in this one and I am excited to meet new characters along the way.
If you are also reading The Potion Diaries: Royal Tour and need someone to fangirl and talk about it to, I'm your girl!! Contact me via my Instagram or Facebook! You can also comment down below your favourite characters and also your favourite book.

Thank you for reading this review, and thanks again to Josephina Bond for sending me these books for me to share with you an honest review.

Current music favourites

Hello lovelies,
Sorry for not posting in FOREVER! I've been very busy with school things, which I will not bore you with! So let's get straight into my current music favourites!

First is music from my absolute favourite band All Time Low! Their newest album Future Hearts came out early last year and not so long ago they released a music video for the song Missing You. I was so excited to see this video because Missing You is actually one of my favourite tracks from that album. I was definitely not disappointed! I am almost certain that it was all filmed in London which makes it feel even more special for me (being from and living in England) especially as they're from Baltimore in the USA. I also really loved how they skyped some fans for the video too! It showed that us Hustlers (All Time Low fans) mean a lot to them which is extremely heartwarming.

Secondly is some new music from an old favourite (courtesy of my dad) artist of mine Jake Bugg. His new record comes out on June 17th but has currently released 3 songs from the upcoming album "On My One". I am a huge fan of his other two albums "Jake Bugg" and "Shangri La", a few of my favourite tracks being "Broken", "Two Fingers", "Slumville Sunrise" and of course "Lightning Bolt". I was quite worried when I heard, on an interview, that Jake was taking on different genres of music with this next album as I was such a fan of the other two. However after hearing "Gimme The Love", "On My One" and "Love, Hope And Misery" I was pleasantly surprised! I must say that these three tracks are certainly different, in my opinion, especially the likes of "Gimme The Love". After I got over the fact of it being different, I really really enjoyed listening to the three tracks he has released and I cannot wait to hear the rest of the album!

Another favourite of mine is of course, 5 Seconds Of Summer. If you follow me on Instagram (@meandmyheadphones) you'll know that on the 9th of April I went to see 5SOS in Brighton! I must say that it was definitely a night I will never forget. They're music is one of those that I can put on and it will always put a smile on my face. No matter what mood or situation I am in there is always a song with lyrics I can relate to. The show was incredible! They had such a lovely connection with the audience, a great set list and a lot of energy!! As it was the Sounds Live Feels Live tour they played most of the songs from their newest album "Sounds Good Feels Good" but they also played some of my old favourites such as "Heartache on the big screen", "Disconnected" and "Good Girls. As well as "She Looks So Perfect" too! I definitely recommend them, and if you get the chance, you should totally check out their shows.

Last but not least is a completely new artist for me, that I literally found this morning!! I instantly fell in love with him. It's an artist called RAT BOY. I am not completely sure how to describe their music other than its quite old Arctic Mokeys esk. (If you get what I mean). Now, I don't usually enjoy that sort of music but when I heard it on a Spotify advert I googled him straight away and fell in love instantly! Unfortunately, he hasn't released an album yet but I am certain that when he does, I will buy it. My personal favourite tracks are "Sign On", "Move" and "FAKE ID".

So there you have it! My current music favourites. I hope you enjoyed a journey into my iPod playlist haha. If you are interested in what else I listen to then you can check out my Spotify (@musical_ella) and my Instagram (@meandmyheadphones). Thank you so much for all of the constant support on here and my other social media. Oh that reminds me! I have made a Facebook page for this blog you can go give that a like to be part of any future Q&As etc. Hope to see you there!
Thanks again,
Ella <3

How to dye armour in Minecraft Pocket Edition.

Hello Lovelies!

I have a little minecraft tutorial for you today, I hope you find it useful. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comment section below and don't forget to follow my blog for more tutorials like this in the future.

First of all you need to place down a cauldron and fill it with water.
To fill it with water you need to get a water bucket and click on the cauldron.
Then you need to choose a dye, any dye works. Click onto the cauldron while you have the dye and the water should turn the colour of the dye (or similar). In my case the water turns purple, as I chose to use purple dye.
Once you have coloured water, you need to get some Leather Armour. You can only dye Leather Armour, not Iron/Gold/Diamond. After you've made some Leather Armour, click on the cauldron while holding the Leather Cap and it will drye it purple!!
Repeat that step again with the rest of the set of Leather Armour.
Finally, put on the armour and admire how great you look! Perfect!

Tanya Burr Advent Calendar 2015: Review

Hey everybody!!  Today I am writing to you all about the lovely things I received in the Tanya Burr advent calendar. First I'd like to know if you all had a lovely Christmas and a happy new year. Let me know your favourite present in the comments below.
Let's get started then;

On December 1st I opened a gorgeous eye shimmer! It is the shade "Creme Brûlée" and I am in love with it. I had never tried an eye shimmer before and I was pleasantly surprised with how nice it looks on.

On December 2nd I opened a beautiful lipgloss in the shade "Macaroon". I'm not particularly a lipgloss kind of girl, I usually opt for the lipsticks instead. Saying that, I do really like this lipgloss and how it looks on my lips. The only thing I would say is that it is not very thick but then again it is only a lipgloss. I really like the shade as its perfect for everyday makeup and would complement any look well.

On December 3rd I opened an amazing nail polish is the shade "Under The Sea". I was honestly so excited once I saw this, I absolutely LOVE nail polishes!! I especially liked the colours in this one particularly and it goes perfectly with the under the sea theme. I am still yet to try it out though and I will soon!

On December 4th I was surprised to see a nail file with a lovely stripe design on it. Now, I really am someone who loves their nails and try's to treat them well so I did appreciate this! It is also a handy pocket size so I will be able to pop it in my handbag etc.

On December 5th I opened some natural looking fake eyelashes!! Okay so, I have to admit something now... I have never EVER worn fake eyelashes in my life!! I've never even really thought about it to be honest, but once I saw these I just knew that they'd be perfect for me. I knew this because they were very natural looking and I definitely prefer that look. I am anticipating wearing them and I will update you (probably on my Instagram) once I do try them. (They did also come with the application glue!)

On December 6th I opened another lipgloss in a darker shade of "Bewitching". If you know me well you'll probably know that I prefer a "darker" lip than a pink lip. I am not against a good pink lip though as I do wear pink lipstick often too. I was very excited to try this and I was genuinely quite disappointed with it. Again, I do think it's because it is a lipgloss so if you like a light wear lipgloss then you will find it absolutely fine! However for me personally, it was too light and made it almost seem blotchy which I did not like at all.

On December 7th I was very excited to see another eye shimmer, this time in a charcoal colour "Starry Night" and I thought was just the perfect name for this product as it really did remind me of a starry night! I truly love the shade and I actually used it on Christmas Day along with a dark lip look which I thought looked lovely.

On December 8th I opened another nail file but this time in a very cute heart design. Another one is very handy as, because they are small, they are easy to loose so a spare never goes to waste.

On December 9th I was amazed by these luxurious looking lashes! I could definitely imagine wearing these on a night out or to a party.

On December 10th I was delighted to see a very handy, pocket sized mirror. It's shaped like a heart too which is ADORABLE!

On day 11 I opened a third lipgloss in the shade "Candy Frost". I was pretty worried to try this one but also very excited as I've never owned such a pink lipgloss (or lipstick!) ever. It was probably what if describe as a Barbie pink. Unfortunately it didn't come up as pink on my lips as I anticipated but it was still quite nice.

Finally on December 12th I was over the moon to see another nail polish in the shade "Carnival Night" and I LOVE IT! I really like all of the colours it has within it. I will definitely be using this as soon as I can.

So that's it! The whole 12 days! I really liked how it was only 12 days instead of 24 or 25. I like it mainly because otherwise it would of been a lot more money. I was really pleased with most, if not all the products I received and I will definitely be using them frequently.

If you want to see if I wear the lashes at any point (which I will eventually) then go follow my Instagram and you'll be able to know when I post next.

See you all soon!
Bye!
